It’s human nature to crave control over our lives. But is there really such a thing?

Several studies show the desire for control serves two important purposes.

First, it helps us believe we can shape outcomes and events to our liking.

Second, control feels good because it makes us feel in charge of our own destiny.

These factors motivate us to set goals, work hard, and progress as people.

But can we really achieve this sort of control?

Personally, I’d say no.

We need only look at the unprecedented effects of COVID-19 to see that it is illusory. No matter how stable or certain your lifestyle was, the last year has been shocking and unpredictable.

So instead of striving for control, I believe a better approach is to be informed and thoughtful.

This gives us the agency to make decisions which cannot guarantee certain outcomes, but can certainly put us in a better position to achieve our goals.

Similarly while Wi-Ai Technology Ltd’s tools cannot put individuals in complete control of their behavioural biases, we can help them take ownership of their decision-making power.

This is how we help the customers of financial services companies make informed, considered decisions which are more likely to be advantageous and reflect their long-term goals.
